Day 9 - Side trip into Wales, Llangollen
Harry could have been feeding us a line, but supposedly because we all wanted to see Tintern Abbey he was taking us on a special side trip through the Eastern part of Wales so we didn't have to take the motorway all the way. We got to see some lovely scenery, had some impromptu stops alongside the road, bonded with some sheep, and made a stop in Llangollen.
When Deb and I did a summer study in Wales in 1993, we spent a weekend with the cousin of a friend of Karen's Mom. She took us sightseeing, and one of our stops was in Llangollen. It felt so familiar when we visited again on this trip! We had time to get a pasty for lunch and walk around a bit. Of course, some souvenir shopping had to be done. We were even able to impress people with our knowledge of the kayaking race course in the river. Our knowledge being that there was one.
