We decided to walk back to the Waterloo train station from Tower Bridge. We walked through the financial district during the lunch hour, enjoying the sights. Too bad we were also still sneezing and coughing, we must have looked a sight! No lunch invitations for us.
We turned a corner and look what we found! Looks just like in Mary Poppins!
We decided to enjoy the view from the outside since we had both toured the interior the last time we were here (1993). Yes, we still remember it, even though it was 15 years ago. Our memories are not gone yet. (Well, Deb's aren't gone anyway. and with a few reminders Karen's came back.)
After many days of navigating London with no problem, we were stumped by the Waterloo Train Station. Where exactly was the entrance? We walked around three sides of it without any indication of a usable door. One creepy overpass, and a few sketchy roads later, Eureka! We followed a trail of business people who looked like they were heading for a train. At last, we were inside. BUT, they were having some technical difficulties and many trains were listed as delayed. Once aboard our train, we discovered the reason we couldn't leave yet....we had no conductor. So we waited. and waited. A mere 30 minutes later, we were on our way. It was one of the nicer trains, so we didn't really mind. Plus it gave us more time to read the British tabloids...
